A DAVYHULME firm is bidding for a hat-trick of national prizes after it again rose to the occasion to claim a place as a finalist in the British Baking Awards.

Elaine Hamey of Elaine's Creative Cakes, Old Crofts Bank, is in the running for two prizes in the national baking awards scheme.

She is in the final three for cake business and confectioner of the year.

She has claimed a British baking Award on two previous occasions.

She said: "These awards are the equivalent  to the Oscars in the baking industry.

"It is a great accolade  to get to the final three.

"It would be quite an achievement  to win for the third time."

The Baking Industry Awards take place on September 6 at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane London.
