YOUNGSTERS from Urmston showed a true international welcome to junior footballers from China.

The local side, Urmston Meadowside Under 8's greeted two teams from Shenxin FC who had arrived to participate in a week's training at Manchester United, before taking on the Trafford youngsters.

The Chinese teams who are based in Shanghai, had travelled more than 5,600 miles to participate and after playing two matches with Urmston, the coaches mixed the teams together to prove that language was no barrier to the youngster playing and working together.

After the games Meadowside coaches and players presented the Shenxin team with gifts, including a shirt signed by all the players. In return each Meds player received a Shenxin FC training shirt.

A spokesman for Meadowside said:"It was a fantasic experience for the players from both teams. We'd like to say a big thank you to Manchester United, Urmston Meadowside, the parents, coaches and most of all both sets of players for making it such great day. "Hopefully we'll get the chance to play the away fixture in China!"

Meds U9's are currently looking to recruit players for their six teams for the 2017/2018 season. If your child is interested contact urmstonmedsnh@outlook.com.
