TRAFFORD Housing Trust acted quickly to reassure residents after the Grenfell Tower blaze.

Within hours, THT was contacting residents and carrying gout safety checks.

A THT spokesperson said: “Within hours of the hearing about the extent of the tragic Grenfell Tower incident, Trafford Housing Trust was rolling out a full resident engagement exercise in addition to conducting safety reviews of our five high-rise blocks.

“This included issuing updates on the THT website providing reassurance and appropriate advice to all customers, letters being sent to all residents in our high-rise buildings with updated safety advice from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and notice boards in communal areas of our blocks being used to share up-to date advice, guidance and additional fire safety information.

“Last Wednesday we conducted a review all of our fire risk assessments for the towers, all of which are fully up to date, and also commenced a programme of additional reassessments and safety testing in every tower. This is in addition to the scheduled safety inspections we undertake regularly in all our tower blocks.

“These actions, together with the pending government review of the UK’s 4,000 tower blocks and a number of Greater Manchester-wide initiatives looking at high-rise safety across the conurbation, will help inform any changes required to our existing policies and procedures.

“All of this information has been shared with Kate Green MP, and we look forward to working with her and other partners, locally and nationally, to ensure our approach to the safety and wellbeing of all tenants continues to be as proactive, supportive and robust as possible.”
