A TRAFFORD headteacher met the Prime Minister last week after being invited to 10 Downing Street.

Urmston Grammar Principal Riffat Wall and Year 8 student Ange Boli, aged 12, also met the Secretary of State for Education, Justine Greening.

Mrs Wall was there by special invitation, and she was allowed to choose one student from the school to accompany her.

At the Prime Minister’s residence, Mrs Wall and Ange first met Ms Greening, and they were then introduced to the Premier, Theresa May. Also present on March 20 were a number of heads from other grammar schools, independent schools and faith schools from across the country, as well as representatives from universities.

The Prime Minister and Education Secretary were keen to hear from the heads and students alike of the work that goes on in their schools.

When interviewed at number 10, Ange said: “My education is important to me and I am aiming quite high, so to go to a grammar school is amazing.”

Mrs Wall said that it had been “an amazing privilege to represent the school with Ange at 10 Downing Street.”
