WORK has begun to create a £11m luxury retirement development in Urmston.

The development, which will consist of 55 one, two and three bedroom apartments exclusively be for the over 60s, is set to be erected in Moorside Road.

The Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Judith Lloyd, visited the Adlington site last week to mark the start of construction.

The new site will be delivered across one and a half acres, and will offer independent living with optional 24-hour care and support available if required.

When completed, the retirement village will boast a spa room, a table-service restaurant offering breakfast and a three-course lunch daily, a hairdressing salon, lounge and activities and crafts room.

Councillor Lloyd said: “It’s fantastic to see a development like this in Urmston, and I do hope it will provide a great experience for the many people and their families that can benefit from retirement living like this. Urmston has a wonderful community and I’m really looking forward to seeing Adlington become a new addition to it.”

Adlington is holding an Information Day at Davyhulme Park Golf Club on Thursday February 23, between 10am and 2pm, where interested parties can meet the Adlington team and find out further information about the development.

Claire Reede, sales and marketing manager at Adlington, said: “We are really pleased that work has now begun on the site in Urmston and are excited to see it progress. The development will provide stunning apartments in a great location within a short distance of the town centre, and we’d encourage anyone wanting to know more about our new apartments to come along to our Information Day on February 23. There will be the opportunity to speak with experts on helping you move, our on site caterers plus our partner, Methodist Homes – there really isn’t a better way to understand everything that Adlington has to offer.”
