PARENTS in Altrincham are being given the opportunity to take their children to a series of fun, free workshops focused on all things fishy and scaled at Pets at Home's Broadheath store.

Youngsters can get up close and personal with some scaly species, as well as learn fun facts and how to care for fish and reptiles.*

The workshops will run as part of the My Pet Pals Activity Club at Pets at Home Altrincham during the half term school holiday.

Pets at Home staff will be on hand between February 9 – 17 to share their knowledge on everything fishy or scaled, teaching children how to care for reptiles and fish responsibly in a fun and interactive way.

Children taking part will learn about different species of fish and reptiles, including the five welfare needs of these animals - shelter, food and water, good health, appropriate company and the right living environment, which are all vital for keeping pets happy and healthy.

Bernadette Kelly, store manager at Pets at Home, said: “Fish and reptiles make extremely rewarding pets, and are a great first pet for children. The free workshops are a chance for Altrincham’s young pet lovers to engage with our colleagues who will be able to offer tips and advice on pet care, whilst making the workshops fun, interactive and hands on.”

After completing the workshops, each child will receive a certificate and stickers, along with a pet promise card where they make their pledge to look after any pet they have according to the five welfare needs.
