GET into the Christmas spirit at Goose Green.

On Saturday December 10, a festive family fun event will be held in the Altrincham square.

Running from 12-4pm, visitors will be treated to Christmas carols and songs from Altrincham Choral Society, Absolute Belters and Di Voci Ladies Choir. In between the choirs the students and tutors of Aura Music Academy, a new music school on Lloyd Street, will entertain with festive tunes.

Family activities will include face painting, children’s characters writing letters to Santa with the Altrincham Explore Learning team and a giant snow globe – perfect for snowy fun and festive family photographs.

All activities will be free of charge, with donations welcome to Altrincham Unlimited’s chosen Christmas charity, the Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

Street food and seasonal drinks will be available from businesses around Goose Green, including mulled wine and mince pies plus plenty of lunchtime offerings.

Katie Bland, Altrincham Unlimited Manager, said: “We’re looking forward to a fantastic afternoon of festive fare, traditional entertainment and family fun, and Goose Green is an ideal space to hold a community celebration.

"We’re delighted that some of Altrincham’s best choirs will be joining us, and sure it will put everybody firmly in the mood for Christmas.

"As well as this event, Altrincham is a great place to be this Christmas, with plenty going on including Santa’s Grotto every Saturday in December at Art with a Heart, late night shopping on Thursdays, a Christmas Lights Switch-on in Kings Court on December 3 and a buzzing food and drink scene.”

Adam Wilde, owner of House Bar and Restaurant, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming the public to Goose Green for an afternoon of Christmas fun. There will be a great selection of food and drink on offer, including hot street food from our barbeque throughout the afternoon.”

Beth Crockett from Aura Music Academy on Lloyd Street said: “We’re delighted to be bringing some of our tutors and students to play at the Goose Green Christmas Celebration. Our purpose-built studios have only been open since September but in that time we’ve been made extremely welcome by the Altrincham business community, and it’s great to have the chance to be involved in what promises to be a lovely Christmas event.

“We’re looking forward to entertaining visitors with festive tunes with a range of instruments and musical styles and showcasing our tutors’ and students’ talents.”
