LITTLE-known Moor Nook Park is on the up.

The recently formed Friends of Moor Nook Park organised a fun day at the Sale park earlier this month.

The event, titled 'This is Our Story', saw more than 500 people flock to the park, in Norris Road. Visitors enjoyed tales by storyteller Helen Stewart, as well as bouncy castles, face-painting, crafts, tea and cakes. Sale Moor businesses donated prizes to a tombola stall and the clay faces on tree trunks were a hit with the kids.

The event also made over £900, which will help see future improvements to the park.

Emma Dobson, chairman of the Friends of Moor Nook Park, said: "We had an inkling local support was good when we had over 250 replies to our questionnaire this summer. We have been absolutely delighted by the support given to this event.

“It was such fun planning the event with a fabulous group of people - including young parents, long-time local residents and local councillors. The start-up funding we received from the Trafford Partnership to promote the park meant we only intended to cover our costs. That we have raised so much, means we can start to make an immediate difference."

The Friends of Moor Nook Park was formed in May this year. The group was keen to use people power to halt the deterioration of the condition of the park. The fun day is one of a number of initiatives the group has started to make a positive difference to their area.
