ST PETER’S Church, Hale, has come up with a fun way to raise funds for Syria Relief, the Manchester charity which assists the war stricken country.
It is holding a ceilidh, a dance made up of traditional folk dances from England, Ireland and Scotland accompanied by the Marmalade Band, which is giving its services free.
A caller explains the dances so everyone can get the hang of it.
Rev Robin Pye, curate at St Peter’s Church. Hale, said: “The scale of human suffering in Syria is beyond comprehension. We hope to raise £1,000 to support schools for children who have fled the fighting but still live there.”
The ceilidh will be held on Saturday, September 24 at All Saints Church, Hale Barns at 7.30. All age groups welcome.
* Tickets, priced £10 or £30 for a family ticket, are available from the Smithy Café, Hale Barns, Costello’s, Hale village, All Saints church, Hale Barns (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings and St Peter’s House, (weekday mornings).
