KATE Green, MP for Stretford and Urmston, took part in Vendor Week by selling copies of the Big Issue in the North alongside local vendor Cassandra in Stretford.

She joined Cassandra on a cold February afternoon to sell copies of the magazine to Stretford shoppers.

Vendor Week 2016 ran from February 1– 7 and is an international event organised by INSP (International Network of Street Papers), which Big Issue in the North takes part in.

During the event, supporters give up an hour of their day to sell the street paper, raising money for INSP, helping vendors boost their sales, and raising awareness of the challenges faced by those for whom selling the magazine is a daily reality.

The MP said: “It was a real insight into what it is like to sell Big Issue North and the skills which are required – I found it really difficult! It was also a great opportunity for me to raise money for INSP and the valuable work they do to help local vendors.

“I’d like to thank Cassandra for letting me sell the magazine with her and do buy a copy from her next time you see her in Stretford Mall!”
