URMSTON Choral Society always welcomes new members and the choir meets for practice at Greenfield Church, Primrose Avenue, Urmston, on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 9.30 p.m.
Auditions are not required.
The Urmston and District Choral Society was formed in 1940 when most church choirs were depleted by the absence of their men away in the Forces and several church choirs from Urmston joined together to perform The Messiah.
Following this the performers decided to make their singing more permanent and in January 1941 the Choral Society was established. Its first performance, Elijah, took place that May.
