THE Lord Lieutenant of Manchester, Warren Smith, was the guest of honour at St. Ambrose College's glittering speech night in the Bridgwater Hall.
He told a full auditorium of parents and pupils from the Hale barns school of his role as the representative of the Queen; and how he has to organise visits by members of the Royal Family to Greater Manchester and to escort them on those visits.
He chairs the appointments and conduct panel for Greater Manchester magistrates and presents medals on behalf of the Queen.
