She finally did it - In front of a packed out assembly hall, Year Nine Sale High School student Louise Cooper had her hair cut for charity.

Louise has spent months collecting donations from her fellow students in return for her having her chopped in front of them during the last week of term. The teenager raised more than £300 just in loose change in the run up to the event and another £200 on the day. She charged people 20p to watch her lose her locks for a good cause.

The money was donated to Cancer Research UK - it's a cause particularly close to the teenager's heart as her granddad suffered from the condition.

The money raised will go to Cancer Research and Louise’s chopped locks have been sent to the Little Princess Trust who make wigs for children who have lost their hair through illness. The school is very proud of Louise and her friends who have helped her with the fundraising.

The Little Princess Trust works with specialist suppliers and experienced hairdressers who offer wigs tailored to the individual child’s needs to give the most realistic look and feel, as close as possible to their original hair.
