THOUSANDS of pounds are up for grabs at a community event being held in Sale next month.

Residents from Sale are being invited to attend Sale Waterside Arts Centre on Saturday, September 6, between 12pm and 3pm, in order to have their say on funding in their area before voting. It will be hosted by the Sale Locality Partnership and Thrive Trafford.

The event will award grants to voluntary and community groups to deliver projects to improve the Sale area. Currently, there are 17 projects, which have been shortlisted to go through to the public vote on September 6.

Before voting residents will be able to watch a showcase of the shortlisted projects in the style of a marketplace and provide local residents the opportunity to find out more before casting their votes for those they would like to see receive the funding.

The will be held at Sale Waterside Arts Centre and covers the wards of Ashton upon Mersey, Brooklands, Priory, Sale Moor, St Marys and Bucklow St Martins.

To be eligible to vote you have to be a Trafford resident aged 16 and over, who lives or works in the Sale locality/area.

The projects with the highest votes will be announced just after voting closes at 3pm.

Ahead of the event, further information about the shortlisted projects is available by visiting the Thrive Trafford website at thrivetrafford.org.uk.

An exhibition is also being held at Sale Moor Community Partnership, Sale West Community Centre and the Sale Waterside between August 18 and September 5.

Cllr John Lamb, chairman of the Sale Locality Partnership said: “These fantastic projects need the support of local people.

“I’d encourage all Sale residents to come along and cast your votes for the ones you think will make a difference to your area.”
