URMSTON Book Shop will sell books at two prestigious author events.

The first is at Waterside Arts Centre, Sale, on August 15, when The White Queen author, Philippa Gregory, will talk about her latest novel, The King’s Curse.

It is about Margaret Pole, daughter of George, Duke of Clarence, one of the few Plantagenets to survive the War of the Roses.

Peter Hopkins, joint partner at Urmston Bookshop said: “We are delighted to be selling her signed book there. We pitched for it and we got it.”

On September 29 it will sell signed copies of Michael Palin’s diary, Travelling to Work, when the acclaimed actor, writer and comedian appears at the Opera House, Manchester.

He will give a one man show about 25 years of exploring the world and almost 50 years in radio, television, books and film.

The ups and downs during his travels will be illustrated with photographs and footage taken during his eight BBC Travel series, beginning with Around the World in 80 Days.

His move from Sheffield schoolboy to Monty Python’s Flying Circus and his acting and writing experiences will all be covered.

Mr Hopkins said: “The sales manager from the publishers came in to talk about forthcoming books and he put us forward for the Opera House event.

“We are delighted.”
