ALTRINCHAM FC is urging the community to back its final fundraising push and help the club realise its dream of a new community sports hall.

Funding has now been secured from a variety of sources, raising a total of £560,000 - which leaves a shortfall of £190,000 needed to complete the ambitious project.

The hall will provide opportunities for people from all walks of life to enjoy sport and leisure activities.

Construction work is due to begin at the end of the current football season with fundraising efforts now being stepped up to help get the project over the finishing line.

Chairman Grahame Rowley said: “We’re very grateful to all the fans, businesses and grant-giving bodies that have already pledged funds, but we still need help.

“We’re confident we’ll reach our goal and the hall will be finished by Christmas with areas of it open before then.

“It will make such a huge difference to the community and will certainly be a very welcome addition to the ground.

“Along with donations, we also need volunteers to help us clear the site before the builders move in.”

Broadheath-based construction firm McGoff and Byrne won the tender for the project.
