Play video | Chapel Street War Heroes A REMARKABLE 161 men from 60 houses on Chapel Street in Altrincham joined the army when the First World War broke out in 1914.
It was a record number of volunteers from one street; 29 of them lost their lives.
The Great War heroes were recognised when the Earl of Stamford unveiled the Chapel Street "Roll of Honour" plaque on April 5, 1919.
The North West Film Archive has restored footage of that special day for you to view now.
