Urmston District
The district of Urmston makes up the largest geographical area of the borough of Trafford.Incorporating Urmston, Flixton, Davyhulme and Partington it has a population of more than 40,000 and covers around 4,800 acres.
It encompasses a varied landscape including a soon to be revamped 1960s shopping centre, dense residential areas and the tranquil expanse of Urmston Meadows.
Since 1998 it has been neighboured by the Trafford Centre but over the coming years it is threatening to become a retail force to be reckoned with courtesy of a £43million face-lift of the central precinct.

And with two junctions on to the busy M60 motorway, two train stations along the Manchester to Liverpool rail route and an extensive bus network, the town is also within easy reach of the bustling metropolis of Manchester.
For those who prefer to walk through greener surroundings, Urmston is not short of open spaces.
The aforementioned Urmston Meadows, owned by the Mersey Valley is home to a startling array of wildlife ranging from frogs to sparrow hawks to 21 recorded species of butterfly.
Kingsway Park also has a place in the town as well as a place in history thanks to its World War II transformation into a prisoner of war camp and anti-aircraft battery.
And having scoops £50,000 of lottery funding it is also looking to experience a number of changing in the near future.
Urmston is home to two secondary schools, two primary schools, an infant school and a junior school, which as part of the successful Trafford educational system have proven to be a draw to homeowners
House prices now average at £190,987 for a semi-detached, £292,350 for a detached, £145,773 for a terraced and £124,829 for a flat.
History
Urmston is thought to have originally been known as Orme's Easton, or Ormestun - the 'tun' or dwelling of Orme Fitz Seward, whose land passed in the 13th century to Richard de Trafford. The land was lost by the de Traffords, but they won it back after a duel!
Politically, Urmston belonged to the Urmston Urban District in the administrative county of Lancashire until 1974 when the metropolitan borough of Trafford was formed.
The district of Urmston is now divided into five wards – Urmston, Flixton, Davyhulme East, Davyhulme West and Bucklow-St Martins – all 12 sitting councillors are currently Conservativ.
On the national scene, Urmston falls within the Stretford and Urmston constituency and has been represented by Labour MP Bev Hughes since 1997.
