TOP tips on style and glamour will be on offer at a fashion and beauty evening at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys on September 17.

The school is hosting the event as part of its on-going support for St Ann's Hospice, which has a special place in the heart of estates officer Gary Salisbury.

His late mother Margaret Salisbury, a school cook from Urmston, was a patient at the hospice in 2000 while wife Bernadette is a holistic therapist and volunteer for the charity.

The grammar school's economics teacher Paul Dunne, who is now retired, came up with a way of raising funds for St Ann's by selling laminated mini timetables for £1 with donations going to the charity. This has generated £15,000 from generous donations by students.

Complementary therapists from the hospice will be giving hand massages and there will be stalls featuring Stella and Dot jewellery, Clarins cosmetics and manicures and demonstrations from Hale-based health and beauty company Face Values.

Corporate supporters of St Ann's will be acting as models with Bowdon-based Lisa Stirling Vintage Boutique and the charity's own Altrincham shop taking part in the fashion show.

Tickets at £20, or £150 for a table of 10, are available from Helen Laycock at St Ann's Hospice on 0161 498 3631 or hlaycock@sah.org.uk.
