WORK to refurbish Wellington School in Timperley is now underway.

The eight-month project was awarded as part of the Education Funding Agency (EFA) Regional Contractors Framework and will see Conlon Construction re-roof the school and carry out associated drainage works.

The secondary school, located on Wellington Road, is a thriving co-educational 11-18 academy with specialist status in humanities. Work is expected to be complete in August prior to the new academic year.

Michael Conlon, chairman at Conlon Construction, said: “This is one of the first projects we have been awarded through the EFA framework and we’re pleased that work has now commenced.

“We have substantial experience in the education sector and understand the business critical need to complete the works on time and to high quality standards.”

Stuart Beeley, headteacher at Wellington School, said: “The high standards of teaching, the hard work of students, staff and governors, and the active engagement of parents, have all contributed to our success, something which we hope to build on further following the project to improve our facilities.”
