AN event was held recently to celebrate the success of a scheme to help young disabled people to find jobs.
Trafford employers got together at Trafford Hospital to share their experiences of providing employment for disabled people who had graduated from the hospital’s ‘Supported Internship’ programme, and to encourage other employers to consider doing the same.
Trafford Hospital, part of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has been delivering the programme alongside its partners Trafford College, Trafford Council and Pure Innovations for two years.
The internship partnership provides on-going support to young people and their employers throughout their time on placement and when in a paid job. Eight out 10 of last year’s interns progressed in to employment.
Contact Lucy Rowe at lucy.rowe@cmft.nhs.uk for more information on how to get involved in the programme.
