A GREAT British Spring Clean is taking place in Trafford as part of a national initiative to tackle littering.

There will be a borough-wide school litter pick on March 20 and a community clear up for all residents on March 21.

Trafford launched its Be Responsible campaign in October to urge residents and business to help tackle litter and waste in their area.

Executive member for environment and operations, Cllr John Reilly, said: “It is fantastic that the nation is coming together over two days in March to help spring clean their communities.

“This event mirrors what we have been successfully doing in Trafford with the Be Responsible campaign; urging residents to think about litter and waste in their area and take a proactive, hands-on approach to helping clean up where they live.”

There are a few ways to get involved including joining a community event, arranging your own clean up event, showing your support by tweeting @TraffordCouncil and use the #cleanupday and sponsoring a clean-up event.
