TRAFFORD Council’s Connexions Service held a successful apprenticeship fair on February 12.
More than 200 young people and their parents attended the event at Sale Waterside where they met 20-plus businesses including the BBC, Kaplan, Michael John Hair, STEGTA, Estio and the Army.
They offered young people a wide range of apprenticeship opportunities and choices in engineering, IT, accountancy, hairdressing and construction.
There were hundreds of vacancies for school, sixth form and college leavers with a number of immediate starts for people who were unemployed. They were able to speak directly to careers advisers, training providers and employers to help them choose the best apprenticeship opportunity for them.
Ninety per cent of the young people who attended the fair said that it met or exceeded their expectations and 88 per cent said they have already applied, or will be applying for an apprenticeship as a result of their visit to the fair.
