TRAFFORD Park-based Russells Construction is redeveloping 3.2 acres of brownfield in Crewe as McDonald’s and Greene King prepare to build outlets there.

Russells have begun remediation works at the former Bombardier site off the A5078 and will put down the foundations for two new buildings and a new road layout.

The contract was won by sister company Russell Homes – also based in Trafford Park – who are now marketing an adjacent 2.5 acres plot for leisure or retail use.

Russell Homes are also building 143 new homes on a neighbouring site in conjunction with Countryside Properties.

Land director of Russell Homes, Daniel Kershaw, said: “The development of a new pub and drive through food outlet will serve not only the new residents but the existing neighbouring communities, and provide long term jobs for local people.

“Our aim is to see the remaining plot occupied by a retailer, gym operator or similar, thereby providing additional new amenity and employment opportunities.”
