A FLIXTON family who lost everything following a massive fire at a Trafford Park warehouse are appealing for people to reclaim salvaged possessions.
Sheldon and Jane Hollies, aged 40 and 33, of Snowdon Avenue, visited the site where the blaze broke out last month at John Bradshaw & Sons, a removals facility on Marshall Stevens way off Westinghouse Road, to find numerous photo albums dumped in a wheelie bin as reported by Messenger last week.
Sheldon, who went to the former warehouse last week, said: "The demolition team said they were keeping the salvaged photos in case people came to collect them. They said if they weren't collected they would be thrown away and let me take them so I could track down the owners. The loss of our wedding photos and objects that are irreplaceable has devastated us."
Scores of people lost treasured possessions after the fire raged through the facility's 1,270 storage containers. When questioned about the bin containing the photos the managing director of Bradshaws, Malcolm Halley, said he had no knowledge of the bin. He later said one of his directors had checked the site and denied such a bin was there.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescure Service confirmed the investigation into the cause of the fire by specialist officers is still ongoing.
