Road improvements for Timperley
10:21am Monday 3rd August 2009 in News
A ROAD resufacing scheme is set to start in Timperley this month.
Following the pavement refurbishment and traffic signal improvements through Timperley Village, the final phase will be to work on the worn-out road surface between Bedford Drive and Bloomsbury Lane.
The work is due to start on August 15 and will take a week to complete.
Executive councillor Alan Mitchell said: "This scheme will improve journeys for motorists travelling through Timperley Village.
“We've scheduled the work to coincide with the school summer holidays to minimise disruption and appreciate the co-operation of local people while the scheme is carried out."
Work will take place during the day and night on August 15 and 16 to remove the existing surface and start laying the new road. Manholes, gullies and hydrants will all be adjusted in off-peak hours during the day from Monday to Friday, with the resurfacing completed on the night of August 22.
To complete the work through the main junction in the centre of the village, the permanent signals will be switched off and replaced with temporary traffic lights.
There will be times as works pass both Park Road and Thorley Lane when these roads will need to be closed to all traffic. When this happens, signed diversions will be provided.
Stockport Road will remain open to traffic at all times under temporary signal control. Access to properties in the area will be maintained whenever possible.
