Speed is an issue on Hale Road, Hale Barns
JASON Robinson, of Hale Road, Hale Barns, said he had concerns about speeding on his road.
He said: “We have a defunct speed camera and a flashing 30mph speed sign but it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.
“I have made numerous attempts to instigate traffic calming measures but to no avail. Motorists see a straight stretch of road and many attempt to go as fast as they can.
“This is not helped by the fact that many in this area own high performance vehicles.
“The increase in the use of GPS units has meant that many motorists and especially HGVs use Hale Road as a convenient way to get off the M56 and into Altrincham.
“The officially signed route is to use Stockport Road via Baguley. This route is more suitable to high volumes of traffic as it is, in the main, a dual carriageway.
“Hale Barns is blighted by traffic and no amount of asking for calming measures seems to work.
“The state of the road is such, that HGVs can actually be felt as they bounce over the potholes.
“While the village appreciates that the road is classified as an A road and therefore unlikely to have humps fitted, it is possible that the introduction of islands to slow traffic would not only reduce speed but perhaps move traffic back on to the officially designed and maintained routes that serve Altrincham.”
