Brooklands Road in Sale gets makeover
BROOKLANDS Road in Sale is getting a much-needed makeover.
The busy Trafford road has long been in need of resurfacing and this week a major project began to improve its quality.
Each weekday an average of 20,000 vehicles travel along Brooklands Road and Brooklands Roundabout is a well-known congestion hotspot.
In addition to resurfacing the road, the number of lanes for drivers to use when approaching the roundabout will be doubled.
Temporary diversions will be in place while the work takes place.
From Monday March 22, to Friday March 26, Brooklands Roundabout and the approaches of the A560 Altrincham Road, Stockport Road and the A560 Shaftsbury Avenue will be resurfaced off-peak from 7pm-5am each day.
There will be a temporary two-way traffic signal control from Shaftesbury Avenue Bridge to Shady Lane, while the work is carried out.
Trafford Council is contributing some of its £24m road investment programme and Manchester City Council are also pitching in to the scheme, as Brooklands Road borders both councils.
A spokesperson for Trafford Council said: “We thank local people for their patience while this scheme is carried out.”
