Messenger Newspapers: Business Awards header

MORE than 160 people from the business world gathered at a gala dinner at Old Trafford football ground on Friday night for the Messenger’s second annual business awards ceremony.
Scooping the top prize of Business of the Year 2010, sponsored by Trafford Council, was Trafford Housing Trust.
Start-up Business of the Year – which attracted the most entries and was sponsored by Blue Orchid – went to The Home Supermarket Ltd, a property sales and lettings business based in Altrincham.
Messenger Newspapers sponsored the Environmental Contribution Award and the winner was Frankland Tree Services – a tree contractors based in Altrincham.
The Blue Raj in Urmston won pub/restaurant of the year in a category sponsored by Altrincham and Sale Chamber of Commerce and winning the Customer Care Award, sponsored by Trafford College, was Brooklands Lodge in Sale.
The Long Established Business Award sponsored by Nikal went to Dunham Massey – Altrincham’s biggest heritage attraction and a jewel in the National Trust’s crown.
Business Person of the Year, sponsored by the Northwest Development Agency was won by Darren Carr – who launched DG Office Supplies Ltd two years ago and has watched his business go from strength to strength and expand and Retailer of the Year, sponsored by the Stamford Quarter was presented to Cheshire Bridal Wear – Altrincham’s outstanding bridal boutique.
There were speeches throughout the night from special guest Graham Brady, MP for Altrincham and Sale West; Matt Colledge, leader of Trafford Council and Barbara Hallwood, chief executive of Altrincham and Sale Chamber of Commerce.
