EIGHTEEN year old Roseanne Byrne from Hale, kept up a family tradition when she gained impressive A-level results.

She is the last of five members of her family to take A-levels.

The St Bede’s College pupil gained three As in French, theology and Spanish, and is now heading off to join her brother at Glasgow University to read languages.

Her father, John, who was headmaster at St Bede’s College for 25 years and is now a member of the governing body.

John said: “I am delighted with Roseanne’s results, all of my children have gained excellent results from their time at the college, which has prepared them well for University and their professional careers.”

Roseanne said: “I am overwhelmed by the results and I am looking forward to joining my brother in Glasgow.”

The College has received a 100% pass rate with 71% of our Upper Sixth students gaining A* to B grades. More than thirty three of our students gained three A grades at A-level. We had seven students who had been offered places at Oxford or Cambridge and all have met their offers.

Headmaster Mr Daniel Kearney said: "We are delighted with the results the Sixth form have achieved yet again, a 100% pass rate has been achieved. This success is a result of excellent teaching, conscientious pupils and supportive parents."

"The College believes that all pupils learn more effectively and develop holistically in an environment in which they are positively encouraged and in which they feel secure and valued for the unique contribution only they as individuals can make. In such an atmosphere of mutual support and positive encouragement, each child’s potential is developed and their personal academic achievement is boosted."
