THE headmistress at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls (AGGS) has paid tribute to her pupils for achieving a stunning set of results.
Almost 90 per cent of passes were at grades A* to B.
Of those, 69.45% were at grades A* and A.
There were some remarkable individual performances: Emily Firmston and Yan Qin both gained A* in five subjects. Emily is intending to read law with Spanish Law at Oxford and Yan will read economics at Cambridge.
Louise Campion, Yasmin Lawal and Megan Hughes each gained A* in four subjects. Louise will read English Literature at Warwick, Yasmin will read law at Cambridge and Megan will read modern and medieval languages, also at Cambridge.
Heamistress Dana Ross-Wawrzynski said: “The governors and I congratulate our students on their well-deserved achievements which are a result of their hard work and commitment and that of their teachers.
“We are also pleased that our students successfully combine academic study with a wide variety of extra-curricular activities and service to the school and the community. Once again AGGS students have done us proud.”
These results round off an exceptional year for AGGS, which has recently been designated a National Teaching School - one of only 100 in the country. As such, the school will develop its highly-regarded work in leading the way in professional development for teachers, in educational research, in initial teacher training and in school improvement.
