MEMBERS of the Flixton Girls School (FGS) Equalities Club recently created some 'rainbow' bakes - all in aid of charity.

The rainbow bake sale took place during break and lunch with a selection of homemade cakes, cupcakes and biscuits being sold to raise funds for the Proud Trust; a youth LGBT charity based in Manchester.

The bake sale raised a total of £133 plus also allowing the Equalities Club to purchase member lanyards and badges for the group.

The Equalities Club runs across all years groups with more thaN 30 students meeting at lunchtimes. The group chose The Proud Trust as their charitable cause as they are a local charity which supports young people with homo/bi/transphobic bullying, counselling, workshops and advice.

A students who participates in the Equalities club said: "I joined this group to support everyone, no matter who or what they like. At the end of the day we are all just people. Supporting each other and learning to live together peacefully makes for a better place for everyone."

Fundraising will continue for The Proud Trust throughout this academic year.
