A CALL has been rejected for an independent inquiry to be carried out into what went wrong at a Trafford school that has been through a year of turmoil.
A turbulent period for the 460-pupil Bollin Primary School in Bowdon saw it at the centre of a leadership row for some months, culminating in a parent protest and teacher strike in February.
This was followed by a damning Ofsted report.
Labour councillor Jane Baugh told a full council meeting that an independent investigation was called for.
"It is only through an independent investigation that lessons can be learned and we can be assured that this will never happen again in any school."
But Cllr Mike Whetton, a member of the Executive on Conservative-controlled Trafford Council, said an investigation had already been carried out by a 'distinguished retired police officer', so he could not see the neeed for an independent inquiry.
He said: "I believe a rapid turnaround is being achieved by the leadership that is in place there."
