SALE'S Springfield Primary School has celebrated its 110th birthday in style.
Springfield Primary School opened its doors on June 22, 1907.
The children, staff, parents and governors celebrated this milestone on June 23, when the children dressed up in costumes from the various decades, created small floats to represent that time and held a parade along Springfield Road and the canal.
This was followed by a tea party in the playground where the children sang a poignant Manchester song called ‘A Certain Kind of Imagination’.
The celebration was then topped off with the cutting of a celebratory cake.
A book, ‘The Story of Springfield School’ by Christopher King, has been published to commemorate
Springfield’s history. These can be purchased via the School Office at a cost of £15.
