A BUDDING Gary Lineker from Trafford recently interviewed Manchester City star John Stones for an upcoming TV show.
The England defender visited the Manchester Grammar School (MGS) in support of the English Schools’ FA (ESFA) PlayStation Schools’ Cup.
And lucky pupil, Aryan Abrol, 12, from Altrincham, interviewed John for the Match of the Day Kickabout programme which will be broadcast on CBBC on January 28.
Aryan and fellow MGS pupil Daniel Rose, 13, of Wilmslow, were chosen to interview John and asked him a range of questions about his career to date.
Aryan said: “It was an absolute privilege to meet such an inspirational player in John Stones.
"He spoke to me about his incredible journey and how hard he has worked to become a top player for Manchester City and England. He also gave me some great tips to help me improve my skills."
John also took some part in a question-and-answer session with pupils, pass on some expert tips during a coaching session, and posed for pictures with pupils
John Stones met both teams after a Year 7 friendly match between MGS and Audenshaw School.
John said: “I was delighted to be asked to help encourage more kids to get involved in the PlayStation Schools’ Cup, which has grown into the biggest grassroots football competition in the country.
"Seeing the passion and enthusiasm from pupils at the Manchester Grammar School was great to see and there were certainly some talented future stars on show.”
