FLIXTON'S Wellacre Academy held its annual presentation evening recently, welcoming back its previous Year 11 students to celebrate their academic and educational achievements.
Proceedings were begun when Harry Quick, the new head boy, gave his inaugural speech.
Next, Principal Melanie Wicks provided a strong focus of celebration and thanks for the evening through a rousing welcome speech. Elaine Johnson also provided a supportive and enthusiastic message to the students from the Governing body.
Finally, Rick Wadden - British road and track cyclist, inspirational athlete and two time silver medal winning Paralympian - provided a lasting and uplifting message of overcoming personal challenges.
During the ceremony and to rapturous applause, many Year 11 leavers climbed the stairs to claim various awards, received for excellence in their chosen subjects.
Outgoing head boy Cameron Lamont officially handed over to Harry Quick, the current head boy.
