THE Alliance for Learning Teaching School held its first, highly successful, Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) Conference on March 18 at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls.
The conference, for both primary and secondary NQTs, attracted around 40 teachers from across the region.
Delegates listened to thought-provoking presentations from a variety of presenters on topics as diverse as ‘Beyond Behaviour’ and ‘High Quality Marking and Feedback’ through to ‘Understanding Progress’ and ‘Setting Challenges for the More Able Student’.
Lisa Fathers, head of teaching school, said: “It was a pleasure to see such a strong cohort of NQTs committed to enhancing their own professional development.
"We covered a lot of topics in a few hours but it was great to see them leaving with enhanced skills and strategies that they can take back to the classroom.”
The success of the NQT conference has prompted the Alliance for Learning to make the conference a termly event. Dates and details for the next conference will be available in late spring.
