POLICE officers put pupils at Wellacre Academy in Flixton in the picture about community initiatives - and now they are working together on them.

They attended the half term meeting of the Wellacre executive student council and spoke about a range of issues, including bike and road safety, the police cadets and a career in the police.

As a result of the meeting, Wellacre executive student council and the police have come together to plan and deliver community projects. The first initiative will be a local litter pick during the spring term.

Cameron Lamont, Wellacre's head boy, said: "We would like to thank the officers for offering their support, and helping us develop our community links. We look forward to welcoming them to our next council meeting and discussing our projects and shared values further."
