TRAFFORD celebrated double success as the Greater Manchester School's Games Level Three programme kicked of recently.
Girls and boys teams from their respective Altrincham Grammar Schools were both crowned champions in the Key Stage Three badminton competition at Sugden Sports Centre in the heart of Manchester.
More than 15 Year 7,8 and 9 pupils from 34 schools across the county had qualified to compete.
Altrincham Grammar School for Girls saw two teams reach the final with the A team edging out the B team.
Meanwhile, Altrincham Grammar School for Boys' team beat Canon Slade School from Bolton to win their final.
Yvonne Harrison, chief executive at GreaterSport, organisers of the Greater Manchester School Games, said: "It was great to see so many pupils from a variety of schools across Greater Manchester taking part at the KS3 Badminton event.
"After hearing the young people’s feedback, it was obvious what a great success it had been.
"The School Games events are a great opportunity for young people to get involved in sport for numerous good outcomes upon their health, fitness and well-being.”
The winners will now go through to Badminton England’s North West School Games competition later this year.
