NORTH Cestrian School in Altrincham is inviting pupils and parents to attend a sixth form open day, which takes place on January 30, 10am to 12noon.

The headmaster Lee Bergin will give a talk at 10.20am after which visitors are invited to tour the school and discuss options with teaching staff.

North Cestrian is now in the pre-opening phase of becoming a free school after its bid was approved in March 2015. With the school set to enter the state sector from September 2016 and with fees set to become a thing of the past, staff are expecting a strong turnout at the open day event.

Lee Bergin, headmaster at North Cestrian, said: “Here at North Cestrian we passionately believe that sixth form is all about preparation. Whether pupils wish to secure the best possible university offer or intend to enter the world of work, our programme builds on strong academic foundations by offering enrichment opportunities that help pupils to build their CV and develop their confidence and independence while learning new skills.

“As an academic school teaching traditional A-Level subjects, North Cestrian offers the supportive environment, individual care and attention needed in these important two years while also allowing greater freedom and treating pupils like adults. I believe this combines as an attractive package for students wanting to study academic subjects while enjoying the freedoms associated with the sixth form as they prepare for adult life.”

Mr Bergin concluded: “If you combine this with the fact that places for pupils of all ages are set to become free in September, North Cestrian is a very attractive proposition to parents as well as pupils. As such we would encourage anybody interested in attending to come along on the day to find out more.”

Applications for entry to the North Cestrian Sixth Form are considered on the basis of the admissions policy which can be found by visiting http://www.ncgs.co.uk/media/11528/Admissions-Policy.pdf.
