Re: Parents slam council's catchment change idea (Sale and Altrincham Messenger December 31 2015)

Just like to say on the worst year for distance from school; Park Rd Sale Primary; the child who got last place in reception class lived 196 meters away from the school.

So a child living 0.65miles away would be very unlikely to get a place in a popular primary anyway.

Trafford is looking at increasing the intake of Brooklands from 70 to 90; to reduce pressure on all Sale schools.

Every school in Sale is oversubscribed as more and more people move into the area (due to the good schools).

What would you suggest? Quite often people slam the council for making decisions about schools but don’t give alternatives.

Park Road Sale wanted to increase from 30 to 60 intake and objections came from most other schools in Sale; despite us being over subscribed for a number of years.

We increased to 45 intake in 2014 and are still oversubscribed.

People phone up on a daily basis trying to get places for their children; and refuse to believe the length of our waiting lists.

Trafford schools admissions have a very difficult job trying to allocate all children in a preferred school place and I for one salute them.
