BUDDING journalist Olivia Buckley has been elected as Loreto Grammar School's new head girl.
After being shortlisted by the school's senior management team, Olivia, 16, from Sale, won an election of her peers and the teaching staff and aims to make her year at the helm, a year to remember.
Olivia said: “I am deeply honoured to become head girl at Loreto. I am proud of the school andall it represents because Loreto very much stands for freedom and equality."
One of her main objectives will be to welcome the youngest girls into the school community.
“I think it is important for the older girls to reassure those girls coming into the school in Year 7 in particular, especially those who may be coming as the only entrant from their primary school that they will make friends and they will have a wonderful time.”
The teenager got two A*s and seven As in her GCSEs is pictured with her deputies Lydia Hyland, 17, and Morgan Sheridan, 16, both from Altrincham.
Loreto Grammar School's director of sixth form Helen Jordan said: "It is a joy to work with young people who are so committed to their community."
