AS part of a £5.3m government funded project which will mark the centenary of World War 1, two pupils and one teacher from Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College embarked on a trip of a lifetime to the Battlefields of France and Belgium.

The battlefields trip is part of an educational programme which aims to create an enduring legacy for generations to come. During the visit to France and Belgium, Vicky Kneen - the school’s head of history - encouraged her Year Nine pupils Luca Murai and Cora Niblock to see battlefields including the Somme, Verdun and Fromelles, while taking part in remembrance ceremonies on the Western front.

Vicky said: “We were over the moon to have been selected! The trip was excellent, Luca and Cora took a million pictures and are going to do a photo wall in school to enable other pupils to witness what they did on the trip.”
