Sale Rotary Club supports Stockdales
8:30am Saturday 27th October 2012 in News
Rotary’s “Casino Royale” event will support Stockdales’ work with children and adults who have learning and physical disabilities
SALE Rotary Club is celebrating two anniversaries next month with a project that plans to raise money for charity on the turn of a card.
The club’s fundraising 'Casino Royale' event brings together next year’s 60th birthday of Stockdales, one of Trafford's longest established charities, with the half century of James Bond films.
As ‘Bond-fever’ grips film-goers worldwide, Sale Rotarians are remembering creator Ian Fleming’s first Bond novel with a themed casino night on November 17 at the Britannia County House Hotel in Didsbury.
The proceeds will go to Stockdales which supports children and adults with learning and physical disabilities and complex health needs. And a charity auction of star items will raise money for the club’s benevolent fund which supports other Sale causes.
“Stockdales has had a long and caring track record for nearly 60 years in Sale and we want to help them celebrate their historic anniversary in grand style,” said club president James Eisen. 'Casino Royale’ will use stake ‘fun money’ to play at three blackjack, roulette and poker tables run by professional croupiers.
Hosting the event will be top international fashion and promotional model, Timperley-based Alex Leigh. And ‘Casino Royale’ also features a drinks reception, hot buffet and cabaret-style vocalist.
“We need everyone who cares about our local community to support ‘Casino Royale’, have a great night out and raise money for some very deserving local causes,” said James Eisen.
Stockdales’ fundraising and marketing manager, Natalie James, added: “I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to Rotary for choosing to support Stockdales. It promises to be a fantastic evening and urge readers and members of the local community to come along and support this event.”
