Over 700 Altrincham homes affected by power cut

OVER 700 Altrincham homes were affected by a power cut this morning.
A spokesman for Electricity North West (EWN) said the incident was caused by a high voltage cable fault in Broadheath at around 11.06am.
The loss of power affected a number of businesses at Altrincham Retail Park, including B&Q, which was had no lights for a time according to Altrincham resident Roger Deyn, who was shopping there this morning.
Mark Winstanley on Twitter said: “I noticed the shops in the dome were open but were in darkness.”
Businesses slightly further afield were also affected, including the Axe and Cleaver who tweeted to say that some of its computers were lost power at around 12.10pm, but this was only very temporary.
The EWN spokesman said its engineers had restored power by12.50pm.
