Sale man, Adam Crutchley, fined by Manchester magistrates after birthday bash brawl

A SALE man ruined a man’s 19th birthday celebrations with a single blow in a Manchester bar.

For no reason Adam Crutchley thumped Henry Troughton who ended up going to hospital and having five stitches put in a gashed lip.

At Manchester Magistrates’ Court Crutchley, 21, was ordered to pay his victim £100 compensation and fined £145 with £85 costs.

Crutchley, of Coppice Avenue, admitted assaulting Mr Troughton in the Missoula Bar on Deansgate Locks on July 22.

He was at a friend’s birthday bash and had been drinking heavily, said Prosecutor Matthew Siddall.

After the two men had been talking to the same girl Crutchley made a finger gesture to Mr Troughton and moments later hit him in the face.

Stewart Page, defending, said Crutchley got ‘the wrong end of the stick’ on seeing the victim and his friends coming towards him as he was speaking to a girl.

“He could have walked away but he lashed out and is very sorry for his actions,” said Mr Page.
