PEOPLE living around Broadway Park in Davyhulme have decided to make a difference to their surroundings - and have called upon other residents to get involved.

Residents have created the Friends of Broadway Park, a newly formed group with an aim to improve the park for young and old alike.

The group came together for their first Big Tidy Up event on September 8, pictured, and collected more than 20 bags of rubbish.

Councillor June Reilly, the vice chairman of the group, said: “We had a fantastic turn out to the litter pick which showed that residents really care about improving their park.”

The Friends of Broadway Park would like to thank Sainsbury’s in Urmston for donating refreshments for the event.

If you would like to get involved with the Friends of Broadway Park Group contact chairman Derek Derbyshire on 0161 747 7128.
