Friends of Longford Park supports the Big Dig initiative
4:00pm Thursday 13th September 2012 in News
GREEN-fingered volunteers from Friends of Longford Park have been busy extending their vegetable beds and establishing a fruit garden in Rylands kitchen garden.
Thanks to grant funding, fruit trees bushes and soft fruit have been planted and new arches and greenhouses installed ready for next year.
As a celebration of what has been achieved so far, they are opening the garden to visitors as part of the national Big Dig initiative, which encourages people to get involved in growing their own produce.
On September 16 from 2 - 4pm there will be an opportunity to see the gardens, plant some seeds in the new greenhouse, find out about plans, contribute ideas, get involved - and have tea and cakes.
Contact the group via the website www.rylandskg.org.uk or on 865 6064 for more information.
