ALTRINCHAM is gearing up for its annual community party - and everyone is invited.

This year’s Altrincham Festival begins with the grand parade on July 7. More than 50 floats are expected to take part in the colourful and vibrant event.

The parade will include 2nd Altrincham Boys Brigade Band, Davyhulme Scout and Guide Band, the Breaston Highlanders Band and Cadishead Brass Band.

It leaves St Margaret’s Road, Altrincham at 11am. People taking part should assemble from 10am.

On the same day, Beechfields Recreation Ground, Grange Avenue, Timperley, will become the festival showground.

A feast of live entertainment will be served up from 11am and attractions include an illusion and variety show, Viking Village Display, brass bands, steam engines, an army display, funfair, craft marquee and a Punch and Judy show.

On July 8, the June Rendell Academy of Dance, presents ‘Festival of Dance’ at 7.30pm at BTH School, Urban Road, Altrincham. Tickets £5, children and senior citizens £4.

The festival quiz takes place at the Railway pub, Ashley Road, Hale, from July 9 to 12.

Kaleidoscope Big Band, with special guests Stamford Park Junior Festival Choir, will perform at the Cresta Court Hotel, Altrincham, from 7.45pm on July 12. Tickets £5, contact 0161 928 5633, or pay at the door.

People can step out at a sequence dance at the Lifestyle Centre, Portway, Wythenshawe, on July 13 from 7.15pm. Tickets £5 from Keith on 0770 629 5239 or 0161 904 9625.
