Altrincham and Bowdon Civic Society celebrates Civic Day

THE new national Civic Day created by Civic Voice in 2011, will be celebrated in Altrincham again this year by Altrincham and Bowdon Civic Society.

The event will take place on June 23 between 9am and 3pm under a gazebo in the centre of Altrincham on Cross Street (opposite Marks and Spencer's).

The theme this year will be exploring the idea of 'sharing our streets' which can create places for shoppers to linger in and enjoy and also improve traffic flow.

A selection of historic maps and plans of Altrincham will also be on display, as one of the projects under the Heritage Lottery Fund grant to the Society, entitled 'The Heritage of the Altrincham Area'. The popular souvenir mugs with a heritage theme will be on sale again, with two new designs added to the range.

In addition, you can find out about the latest developments in Altrincham, including the new hospital to be built on Railway Street in the autumn and the transport Interchange, along with a new tree planting scheme for the town centre.

A giant mind map showing a vision for Altrincham will also be on display.

Come along on the day to find out about what's going on in the town centre and to express your views. Visit http://www.altrinchamandbowdoncs.com for more information about Altrincham and Bowdon Civic Society.
